April 22, 2023 is the 54th World Earth Day. On this occasion, the College of Environmental Science and Engineering and IESD organized students to go to Jinze Town in Qingpu District to hold a thematic promotion activity on April 21.

At the beginning of the event, both Chinese students and international students introduced what World Earth Day is and interacted with the residents in English and Chinese, making them realize that in the face of ecological protection, human society is a community of destiny and all people in the world have the responsibility and obligation to protect the home we live in.

Then the international student representative put forward several measures on how to do a good job of environmental protection in the future: firstly, we should cherish resources and learn to recycle and utilize them in our daily life; secondly, we should do a good job of separating garbage and turning garbage into treasure; finally, we should deeply implement the concept of low carbon and environmental protection, travel green and reduce pollution; the people present expressed their agreement. After the activity, the student representatives presented small gifts to everyone on campus to commemorate the event. Finally, the staff of Jinze Town led the students to visit the ancient town together and introduced the long history of the town and its famous attractions, including the efforts made by the town in ecological greening. The students were impressed by the steady implementation of local environmental initiatives.

The event fully practiced the concept of low carbon and environmental protection, and also let international students know the work and practice of local governments in China in the field of sustainable development. In the future, we should work together to implement the concept of to respect, accommodate and protect nature. and remember the deep words of General Secretary Xi Jinping that If we do not fail nature, nature will never fail us. Do a good job, so that the lush mountains are always there, clear water flows forever, the air is always new, and build a beautiful home together!
