Scientific research achievements:

As the project leader or sub-project leader, Prof. Li has completed more than 40 national research projects (863), national major basic research projects (973), national technological innovation, Natural Science Foundation, Ford Foundation, National Ministry of Education Cultivated Young Teachers Fund, and US Energy Fund.

He has published more than 200 academic papers, including more than 50 SCI, EI, and ISTP indexed papers. He has obtained 10 national utility model patents and 2 invention patents. He received one first-class prize and three third-class prizes each from the Ministry of Science and Technology Progress Award.

In 2009, he won the second prize of Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award, 2009 Shanghai Yucai Award and Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award.

He is also the executive director of the Chinese Society of Automotive Engineering, the executive director of the Chinese Society of Internal Combustion Engines, the director of the Chinese Association of Machinery Industry Education, the director of the Shanghai Society of Internal Combustion Engines, the deputy director of the Gasoline and Gas Engine Branch of the Chinese Society of Internal Combustion Engines, the member of the Oil and Clean Fuel Branch of the Chinese Society of Internal Combustion Engines, the member of the Steering Committee of Machinery and Design Teaching of the Ministry of Education, the deputy director of the Vehicle Engineering Field of the Master of Engineering of the Ministry of Education, the deputy director of the Machinery He is a member of the American Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and has been the Chairman of SAE International Direct Injection Gasoline Engine Section and the Chairman of Hybrid Vehicle Section for many times. He is a member of the editorial board of Combustion Science and Technology. He is an independent director of Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery.

In May 2007, Prof. Li was involved in the establishment of the Tongji Yizhi team and has been the Chief Instructor since then, having competed with the team in the FSAE Japan race and introducing the FSAE race to Chinese university students. In April 2013, he was awarded the SAE Fellow (an honorary member of the Society of Automotive Engineering, which is a recommendation system that selects 20 outstanding members worldwide each year for their achievements in engineering development, scientific research and industry leadership, and for their advancement of automotive and aircraft-related technologies), the second person from a Chinese university to receive this honour (the first was Professor Xu Min from Shanghai Jiaotong University).
