2020 ABUJA FORUMSUSTAINING CHINA-AFRICA COOPERATION POST-COVID-19 held successfully
Discussion on sustainable development of Sino African relations in post epidemic period

On October 15, 2020, the online seminar of 2020 Abuja Forum - sustainable development of China Africa relations in post epidemic period jointly organized by Nigeria research center of African Research Institute of Zhejiang Normal University and Gusho Institute, Nigeria was successfully held in the form of Zoom online conference. The forum brought together diplomats, government officials, scholars, experts from the private sector, civil society representatives, and media reporters to offer suggestions on reducing the socio-economic impact of the new epidemic on Sino African relations from a comprehensive perspective. Mr. Raila Odinga, Former Prime Minister of Kenya, High Representative for Infrastructure Development at the African Union Commission. Professor Liu Hongwu, distinguished professor Changjiang Scholar, Director of the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University(IASZNU). Mr. Amb Wale Oloko, Retired Nigerian Consul-General, Guangzhou, China, and other professors and expertise attended the meeting and delivered speeches.


The 2019 and 2020 IESD Students participated in the ABUJA conference online. First of all, Mr. Raila Odinga, Former Prime Minister of Kenya, High Representative for Infrastructure Development at the African Union Commission, delivered a keynote speech entitled Views on Sino-Africa Engagement towards Durable Peace and Common Prosperity. In the course of the meeting, IESD students listened to the introduction and exchange of views on the issues of Sino-Africa People-to-People Ties Amid and Beyond COVID-19, Sino-Africa Debt Crisis Amid and Beyond, Sino African trade under and after the new epidemic situation, Sino African bilateral relations and trade relations between China and Africa. At the end of the meeting, Liu Hongwu, distinguished professor Changjiang Scholar, Director of the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University(IASZNU), released his new book and expressed his thanks.


After the meeting, the students who participated in the meeting said that the forum's content gave them a more in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the sustainable development of China's Africa relations. Among them, Sahidul Islam, a 2020 grade student, said: Through this forum, he fully understood China's significant contribution to in Africa during the outbreak of Corona Virus. Besides, Sahidul Also mentioned that in Mr. Dr. Suleyman Ndanusa, he evaluated the cooperation between China and African countries. China provides loans to the belt road countries, especially in African countries, to carry out Sustainable Development. Belt Road Initiative is now a modern model of Global cooperation and development. Sino-African Cooperation already set up a milestone of development. He hopes with collaboration and mutual relations, we can gain the Sustainable Development Goal eventually.
