IESD Hosted the Seminar on Green development planning for river basin:
Experience from Yangtze River Economic Belt and Lancang-Mekong Basin

On 4 December, with the support of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD) organized theSeminar on Green development planning for river basin: experience from Yangtze River Economic Belt and Lancang-Mekong Basin. The seminar discussed the challenges and lessons learned on water resource management and development of industrial parks along Yangtze River and Lancang-Mekong river, in order to promote green development under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Mechanism.




Professor LI Fengting, the Executive Deputy Dean of IESD sent the open remarks to all participants. During the seminar, Professor LIAO Zhenliang and Professor XIE Li overviewed the water resource management and water environment prevention of    Lancang-Mekong River and Yangtze River. Professor YIN Hailong and Professor WANG Hongtao shared with audience the surface water quality modeling and wastewater treatment technologies for the Lancang-Mekong River and Yangtze River. Professionals in relevant government sectors, international organizations and NGO representatives attended the event. The event also attracted more than 50 young scholars and students from 20 countries.
